Dog Days in Downtown Williamston, Thursday-Friday, August 2-3.  Activities include an “Ugly Dog” contest, pet parade, Williamston’s Deputy Dog contest, Ingham County Animal Shelter Drive & Adoption, agility demonstrations, rescue groups, pet safety, hot dog bobbing pool for dogs, pet grooming, and lots more.  Here is more information on a couple of the events:

Williamston’s Deputy Dog Contest - Applications are being accepted for this year’s Deputy Dog of Williamston Contest.  At 6 pm on Thursday, August 2, the Deputy Dog contest will be at McCormick Park.  Each owner must complete an application stating why they think their dog should be “Williamston’s Deputy Dog”.  Dogs must live in the Williamston area, and be able to participate in Williamston’s many parades.  This is a year-long commitment for the dog and their owner.  $5 entry fee per dog. Contact the Chamber office to get an application on www.williamston.org under “Events”.

 

“Ugly Dog” Contest – This is on Friday, August 3, with prizes for: Best Dressed/Costume, Best Trick, Least Behaved, Looks Most Like Owner, Longest Tail, Shortest Dog, Tallest Dog, Most Friendly, Longest Ears, and . . . Ugliest!  Registration starts at 5 pm, with the contest to start at 6 pm behind Gracie’s Place, 151 S. Putnam in downtown Williamston.  Dog pools/drinking water will be available for your pets.  This Contest is sponsored by the Delta Rho Chapter of ESA International.  Contest questions, contact Eva Hatt, 517-282-9814, hardhatt@cablespeed.com.

 

Ingham County Animal Shelter Drive

The Ingham County Animal Shelter Drive during the Dog Days in Williamston will be collecting donations for the animal shelter Thursday, August 2nd from 5pm-7pm and Friday, August 3rd from 4pm-8pm at the canopies next to Limner Press, 121 High St., Williamston.  We will be collecting bath towels, blankets, treats, food, toys, leashes, collars,  kitty litter, scoops, pet bowls, newspapers, office supplies, garbage bags, zip ties, duct tape, dog houses, dog crates, pet beds, and laundry detergent.  If you bring an item for the shelter, you can sign up for a drawing to win one of 2 fabulous gift baskets!  There will be adoptable pets from the shelter, doggy pools, and a dog treat guessing game.  We will also be hosting the annual Deputy Dog contest on Thursday, August 2nd at 6pm.  Like us on Facebook
